Actress Shweta Tripathi has got huge recognition from the web series ‘Mirzapur’. After the third season of this series, the second season of Shweta’s ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’ has also been streamed on Netflix. Recently the actress talked to Dainik Bhaskar about this series. During this, apart from acting, he also talked about the changes taking place in the social and environment.
The actress said that it is the responsibility of all of us to contribute in saving the earth. The actress also revealed during the interview that she wears clothes borrowed from others. Why he said this, we will know further in this interview. However, here are some special excerpts from the conversation with him…
When a character in a series becomes popular, what kind of challenges come up in making the character more interesting in its next season?
In the first season, we do whatever comes in our heart and mind. When a show becomes popular, people become a little critical. However, I don’t think the actor needs to think about it. The audience has already seen Golu’s journey in Mirzapur so far. Season 2 of ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’ is also streaming. I believe that if any show is made with true heart and love and the actor works with the same dedication, then the audience likes that show.
Now, among all the characters you have played, have you met any real character?
I played the character of an acid attack survivor in the web series ‘Kalkoot’. During that time I met some people and called them acid attack victims. However, she calls herself a survivor. This is also true because she is surviving. We have made him a victim.
They also have their own dreams, but when their dream is broken, that dream is not just theirs but that of the entire family. Apart from ‘Mirzapur’ and ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhe’, ‘Kalkoot’ has also been liked by the people.
Till now you have played many memorable characters, what was your opinion about Bollywood actresses before coming into the industry?
Hero-heroine or any performing actor should do the work well. The writer-director should put life and breath into the character he has written. This is my thinking. It doesn’t matter to me what you look like or what your height is.
This society tells us how heroes and heroines should look. Appearance, color and height are imposed on you. It depends on you how to take this challenge. I enjoy taking challenges.
When you entered the industry with this vision of society, what kind of challenges did you face?
It never mattered to me that my height was short. One place where the problem occurs is when we are at a party. Music plays and friends are long. Then you can’t hear what they are saying. I have always kept life simple.
The more difficult you make your life, the more difficult life will be. I never let my short height become my weakness.
Ever felt competition with anyone in the industry?
No, everyone I have worked with has been very supportive. Got to learn a lot from Richa Chadha in ‘Masaan’ and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in ‘Haramkhor’. These are the films of the initial phase of my career.
As far as competition is concerned, it should be a healthy competition. If you are jealous of someone then try to understand why this is happening?
I also get jealous when people go to film festivals, because I love going there. Get a chance to watch all kinds of films and meet people from around the world. One gets to see such films which the society needs. Now look at my films ‘Masaan’ and ‘Haramkhor’, their story was such that it needed to be told to the society.
This should be the purpose of cinema, through which a message can be given? A lot of changes are being seen in cinema now. How do you see this change?
I want to thank the OTT platform and the audience for whatever change has taken place in cinema. Good content is being created, but if the audience does not watch, then the efforts of OTT will go in vain. The kind of change that is being seen in the society, similar change is being seen in cinema also.
Now good characters are being written for girls, because now girls are progressing in every field. We needed such change. Where one is not judged because of gender. Instead of dividing people, it is time to unite them. Similarly, knowingly and unknowingly we all have worsened the condition of the world.
How is that?
The environment of the whole world has become very bad. To some extent, we ourselves are responsible for this. The weather of the whole world is changing a lot, but we do not understand when we will wake up. There is a great need to talk about this topic today. Wherever you look, people are drinking water in plastic bottles and throwing them here and there. No effort is small or big.
Do whatever you can to save the world. If we don’t save, who will come? No super hero will come to save us. We live on this earth, it becomes our duty.
What kind of endeavor is yours?
I don’t drink water in plastic bottles. It is a matter of saving the world, but first we have to save ourselves. Water from plastic bottles is very bad for our health. I try to wear whatever clothes I have left. I even borrow clothes and wear them. Recently, she went to an event of Tanishq wearing her mother-in-law’s saree.
When I go on holidays, I borrow clothes from my friends. Instead of buying, I take clothes of my sister-in-law, friend and mother-in-law. In this way we keep sharing clothes with each other. It is a lot of fun and a lot of variety is available. If the clothes are not dirty then there should be no harm in wearing them back.
I wear my own clothes again. This will save the electricity spent in washing and pressing clothes. Now I have become a complete vegetarian. I also use very little tissue paper because it is made by cutting trees.
