Trump has now become the President-elect, his status will remain till January 20.Now the process of transfer of power will begin, which will continue for 11 weeks.Meanwhile, Trump will appoint a staff of 4000 people to implement his policies.
On November 6, Donald Trump was officially declared the winner of the US presidential election. Immediately after this, he will be called President Elect, although he will not officially take the oath of office as the President of America on January 20. As soon as a person becomes the President-elect of America, he starts getting the protocol which is equal to that of the President of America. The process of transfer of power to the President-elect starts from 7th November and continues till 20th January. The last process is the swearing in of the new President and his arrival at the White House. The transfer process is lengthy. This process time is considered as transition period.
What is this transition?
In fact, Presidential Transition is the process of transfer of power of the American President, under which the previous President gives all the important information and duties to the next elected President, called President Elect in America, so that the President Elect and his team are fully equipped when they reach the White House. There should not be any problem in working. The responsibility of this entire process lies with the General Service Administration which is called (GSA). Whose job is to provide everything from office space to equipment and technology.

how long does the transfer take
Normally this transfer takes 11 weeks. This starts only when the Election Commission of America declares someone the winner of the presidential election. This continues till January 20 when the next President takes office. During this entire process, the President-elect has to fill about four thousand posts, about which Trump has also said after winning the election, so that the policies he wants to implement can be started by his staff and appointed officers.
What happens during this time
During this period, along with managing the busy schedule of the President-elect, his briefing and appointment of staff also take place. Once the transfer of power officially begins, the President-elect’s transition team, which was formed during the campaign, begins to operate. The most important in this is the daily security briefing in which the elected President is given information related to national security.
Trump has already started appointing his staff. Since he has been President before, he is well aware of all these tasks and processes. This process also helps the head of every government agency to identify his role. At the same time, out of four thousand political posts, 1200 have to be confirmed by the Senate in which the government confirms their background during transfer.
this work also
During this time, the elected President and his team formally start using government sources. The team also coordinates with the State Department so that the President-elect can talk to foreign leaders. The elected President and his wife are also given a tour of the White House so that they can give instructions regarding the decoration of the White House.

Why delay in transfer
The entire process begins with a letter from the GSA identifying the next President. This year, the GSA refused to recognize Biden as the winner before November 23. This formality was completed only three weeks after the elections. Due to this, funds and other sources could not be released. The law is not clear in this matter nor is there any fixed date.
The entire cost of the transfer process is met with government money and private funds. Once the President-elect is decided, $7 million is released from federal funding. Apart from this, the remaining expenses are met by the elected President’s own fund raising.
