Umesh Yadav’s pain over being unsold in IPL.
New Delhi. Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav remained unsold in the mega auction of Indian Premier League 2025. Umesh was bought by Gujarat Titans in the 2024 mini auction for Rs 5.80 crore. He played seven matches and took eight wickets at an average of 26.25 and an economy rate of 10. But this year no one bid on it in the auction. Umesh is very upset after not being selected.
Umesh Yadav said in an interview to Insight Sport, “Everyone knows that I was not selected for IPL this year. I have been playing for 15 years. Being unsold in IPL 2025 is very shocking for me. Why should I lie? It feels bad. Even after playing so much and playing around 150 IPL matches, you are not selected. This is shocking.”
Umesh further said, “It depends on the franchises and their strategies or my name came late in the auction and they did not have money left. Still, something has happened. I am very disappointed and upset. But still I cannot change anyone’s decision.”
Umesh said, “I got my leg surgery done. As long as I feel I can bowl at 140 kmph, I will bowl. When I am no longer able to bowl, I will quit cricket myself. I won’t need to tell this to anyone.”
