Bogota (Colombia): A major update has come in the case of plotting to kill Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Six foreigners including two American citizens have been arrested on charges of plotting to kill President Nicolas Maduro. According to Venezuela, these six had entered the country and were planning to kill President Maduro. The country’s Minister of Internal Affairs Diosdado Cabello gave this information.
Venezuela alleges that this is a conspiracy of the CIA. However, Washington rejected these allegations that the CIA had planned to kill Venezuelan President Maduro. Venezuela says that all those arrested are mercenaries. Venezuela’s Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello claimed that the CIA was leading this operation and 400 rifles have been seized from the arrested people.
Diosdado Cabello said in his address that foreign nationals were part of a CIA-led conspiracy to overthrow the Venezuelan government and assassinate several ministers. In his address, Cabello showed pictures of some rifles and said that these weapons have been recovered from the conspirators. It is alleged that three US citizens, two Spanish citizens and one Czech Republic citizen had come to this South American country to assassinate Maduro.
The arrested American citizens also include a member of the Navy, whom Cabello identified as Wilbert Joseph Castaneda Gomez. Cabello said that Gomez was part of the Navy Seal Commando and had served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Colombia. The Spanish Embassy in Venezuela has not yet commented on the arrests of its citizens. Meanwhile, the US State Department confirmed the detention of an American soldier late Saturday night.
