We feed toffees to children just like that. Many times we don’t even check whether it is okay or not. A frightening case has come to light in New Zealand regarding this toffee. Some people donated toffees to a charity. The organization distributed these toffees among some children. But the children started feeling dizzy as soon as they ate them. Some found it bitter and spat it out. But some had to be admitted to the hospital. But when the toffee was investigated, such a revelation was made that even the police were shocked.
The incident is from Auckland city of New Zealand. Helen Robinson, head of charity Auckland City Mission, said that she had received these toffees from the public. These pineapple flavored toffees were of Malaysian confectionery brand Rinda, which we got in a sealed packet. So we did not check and distributed them among the children. But the children started falling sick after eating them. Children of at least 10 families fell sick due to this. Three had to be admitted to the hospital as well. The children said that it tasted strange. After this, the charity employees tried to eat the remaining toffees. They also found it bad. After this, they immediately informed the police.
This is not a normal toffee
When the police started investigating, it was found that these were not ordinary toffees but solid blocks of methamphetamine wrapped in candy wrappers. The New Zealand Drug Foundation said that this is a very addictive drug and sometimes it is even fatal. The amount of methamphetamine in this toffee was 300 times more than the normal level. This was enough to kill children. It destroys the central nervous system.
Severe chest pain when eating
According to the Drugs Foundation, it looks white, but it tastes bitter and it easily mixes with water and alcohol. Eating it can cause severe chest pain. Shivers can occur. The person starts forgetting everything. He loses control over himself. Auckland Police said, we have confiscated all the toffees. We want to reach those people who handed it over to the charity. So far 400 people have been questioned.
