Deal worth 10 thousand crores… What are India and Russia going to do now, who will be offended?

New Delhi: The recent deal between India and Russia regarding nuclear energy can cause irritation in the eyes of those neighbouring countries for whom the strengthening of relations between the two countries will be a thorn in their flesh. In fact, India is soon going to get another consignment in the deal worth more than Rs 10 thousand crores for providing nuclear energy etc. to the Kudankulam power plant of India.

The country’s largest nuclear power plant…
After the completion of all the 6 units of this plant, it will be the largest nuclear power plant in the country with a capacity of 6,000 MW. Currently, two units with a capacity of 2 GW are operational. India currently has a nuclear power capacity of 7 GW. There is a plan to almost double it to 13 GW by 2029.

Experts say that India and Russia are working on a deal worth Rs 10,500 crore to supply nuclear fuel to the new units of this plant. Both these units are actually being built with the help of Russia. In this deal, Russian nuclear fuel company TVEL JSC will supply it to the Department of Atomic Energy. The Department of Atomic Energy will provide this fuel for two units of the Kudankulam N-Power project – 3 and 4. It will be used for the initial load and the subsequent five reloads as well as the supply of inspection rods and fuel assembly inspection equipment from 2025 to 2033.

India’s growing nuclear capability may be unpleasant for China. According to experts, the Indian government is also considering the possibility of forming a joint venture with a Russian company. This joint venture will definitely prove to be a boost to India’s nuclear capability.
