Captain and players win the match but…after becoming the interim coach, Aaqib Javed broke his silence regarding Babar Azam.

New Delhi. Aaqib Javed, head coach of Pakistan’s newly formed white ball cricket team, has broken his silence regarding Babar Azam’s place in the T20 team. Babar Azam’s performance in all three formats of cricket has not been good for some time. In the recently played 3-match T20 series in Australia, Pakistan was forced to lose the series 0-3. This series was soon to be forgotten for Babar. He scored only 47 runs in three matches. Pakistan team’s dream of defeating the hosts in T20 on Australian soil could not be fulfilled this year also. Pakistan has never won T20 in Australia.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali even said that for Babar Azam, the third T20 against Australia was his last match in this format. After becoming the interim head coach, Aaqib Javed has also said a lot about Babar. Basit told a local TV channel in Pakistan that this is probably the last T20 match for Babar Azam under Aaqib Javed as the head coach.

‘I have been coaching for the last 20 years’
Aaqib Javed believes that in modern cricket, the role of the coach is praised in the success of the team. Whereas captains and players are the people who give results. Javed told the media, ‘I have been coaching for the last 20 years. A coach can only help to some extent in creating a good environment, giving a clear message about the kind of cricket to be played and helping the players in preparation. But in the end the results have to be achieved by the captain and the players on the field.

Javed rejected these speculations
The former Test fast bowler also dismissed speculations that ever since he became the senior selector, veteran batsman Babar Azam and some other players are being targeted and left out of T20 cricket. Javed said, ‘Look, cricket is not about individuals. In the end, whatever we do as selectors, our aim is Pakistan’s victory. Everyone saw the way Babar batted in Australia. We are not targeting anyone. We know that Babar, (Mohammed) Rizwan, Fakhar (Zaman) have a lot of experience and have performed well in the past.

‘Our focus is on the Champions Trophy and the ODI team
According to Aaqib Javed, ‘But right now we are focusing on the Champions Trophy and ODI team because we have to decide our ODI team soon.’ He also said that the selectors are now giving opportunities to many young and new players as the larger pool of players will give more options to Pakistan.
