There have been attacks on temples in Canada before

The High Commission had set up a consular camp outside the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton city of Canada. This camp was set up to meet the needs of Indian citizens. Life certificates were being issued in this. According to reports, Khalistanis, who were protesting on the completion of 40 years of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, reached there and attacked the people.

The Indian community has been worried about the targeting of Hindu temples and community members in Canada for some time. In the past few years, Hindu temples have been vandalized in the Greater Toronto Area, British Columbia and elsewhere in Canada.

PM Modi had opposed the said attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had strongly condemned this attack on the Hindu temple in Canada. He had said that we expect action from the Canadian government. Such incidents cannot weaken us. PM Modi had written that I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. The cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats are equally condemnable. Such violent acts can never weaken India’s resolve. We hope the Government of Canada will ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.

India’s allegation – PM Trudeau doing anti-India politics for vote bank

Relations between India and Canada have seen a decline for more than a year. It started in June 2020 after the murder of pro-Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. In September last year, PM Trudeau alleged in Parliament that the Indian agency was involved in Nijjar’s murder.

After this, Trudeau had accused Indian diplomats of involvement in the October 13 Nijjar massacre last month. After this India recalled its 6 diplomats including Sanjay Verma.

India says that the Canadian government’s allegations are baseless. Canada has not shared a single piece of evidence with the Indian government. They are making claims without facts. The Trudeau government is deliberately trying to defame India to gain political mileage.

India’s Foreign Ministry had said in a press conference last month that PM Trudeau’s enmity with India has been going on for a long time. His cabinet includes people who are openly associated with extremist organizations.
