Bollywood superstar’s grandfather played cricket for England, then became the captain of Team India.


New Delhi. Many players have played cricket for the Indian cricket team so far. Among these, there is one name who played for the England team before playing for India. We are talking about Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi. Mansoor Ali carried forward his father’s legacy and he also became the captain of Team India. The next generation chose Bollywood instead of cricket and became successful artists. Saif Ali Khan is a well-known name of Bollywood today.

Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the third Test captain of the Indian cricket team, started his cricket career playing for England. The 8th Nawab of Pataudi State is the only Indian cricketer who has played Test matches for both India and England. Iftikhar Ali started his career in the year 1933 with a brilliant century against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

In his career, Iftikhar Ali Khan played 6 test matches, out of which he played three as the captain of the Indian team. He played the remaining three test matches for England. Before India’s independence, in 1946, he went on a tour of England as the captain of the Indian cricket team. This stalwart had 199 runs in his name in 6 test matches which included a century innings. He scored 8750 runs in 127 first class matches. Iftikhar Ali scored 29 centuries in first class.

Iftikhar Ali’s son Mansoor Ali Khan played a total of 46 test matches for India. He became the 14th Test captain of India. Mansoor Ali scored 2793 runs in Tests with the best score of 203 runs. There were 6 centuries and 16 half-centuries in this. Mansoor Ali married Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore. Apart from Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan and actress Soha Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan is also associated with Bollywood.
