New Delhi. In the mega auction of Indian Premier League 2025, the franchise team spent money lavishly on the first day. Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the history of the tournament, while Shreyas Iyer reached second place in the list. While Yuzvendra Chahal became India’s most expensive spinner, Venkatesh Iyer was taken back into the team by Kolkata Knight Riders by paying a huge amount. The amazing thing is that he was released before the auction and he had come requesting the coach to take him back in the team.
It would be right if Venkatesh Iyer’s name is taken as the first among the players whose luck shone on the first day of the mega auction. The Kolkata Knight Riders team decided to re-join the player who was not retained by paying him a huge amount. In the mega auction, Think Tank on behalf of the team made a high bid of Rs 23 crore 75 lakh and included this player back in their team.
Told the coach to please take me back
After joining the KKR team in the mega auction, Venkatesh Iyer gave special information while talking to Jio Cinema. He told that he was sad when Kolkata Knight Riders team did not retain him. Venkatesh said, “I was hurt when his name was not included in the list of retained players before the mega auction. However, this keeps happening because before this I had also been retained in the last season.”
Iyer further said, “A few days ago, I had told the team coach Chandrakant Pandit, who also coaches the Bhopal team, to take me back to the team sir. I want to play for Kolkata. See, my wish has been fulfilled.”
