New Delhi. 7-seater cars have started gaining popularity among the people in the country. This is the reason why companies are now launching 7-seater models of their 5-seater SUV cars as well. Mahindra Scorpio is a well-known name in this segment, but there is one car whose dominance is not decreasing and this car remains number 1 in terms of sales in its segment throughout the year. This car sold 14,888 units last month and its price is less than Rs 10 lakh. This car is performing better than many cheap cars of its company.
The 7-seater car we are talking about here is Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga MPV, which is the best-selling car in the 7-seater MPV segment. Last month, 14,888 units of Ertiga were sold, while in March 2023 this figure was 9,028 units. That is, on an annual basis, 5,860 units of Ertiga were sold more and it got an annual growth of 65%.

Bolero and Scorpio bite the dust
In the list of top 10 cars of March, Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Scorpio are the only two models that got the highest growth on an annual basis. Scorpio got 72% growth while Ertiga got 65% annual growth. The demand for Ertiga can be gauged from the fact that it is getting around 14,000 customers every month. Models like Bolero, Innova, Fortuner are also failing in front of it.
How were the sales for the last 6 months?
If we look at the sales of Maruti Ertiga in the last 6 months, then this car sold 14,209 units in October 2023, 12,857 units in November 2023, 12,975 units in December 2023, 14,632 units in January 2024, 15,519 units in February 2024 and 14,888 units in March 2024. That is, a total of 85,080 units were sold during 6 months.
The mileage of Ertiga in petrol is 20.3 kilometers per liter.
Engine and Specifications
Maruti Ertiga gets a 1.5-litre K15C Smart Hybrid petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 102bhp and a peak torque of 136.8Nm. This engine is offered with both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. Its CNG variant is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In CNG mode, this car generates 87bhp of power and 121.5Nm of torque.
What is the price?
The company offers Maruti Ertiga in the budget MPV segment. It is sold in four variants LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. Its ZXi and VXi+ trims are also available with CNG. Its ex-showroom price in Delhi is between Rs 8.64 lakh and Rs 13.08 lakh. The on-road price of its base variant in Delhi is around Rs 9.68 lakh. The most special thing about Ertiga is its mileage. This car gives a certified mileage of 20.3 kilometers in one liter of petrol and 26.11 kilometers in one kilo of CNG.
