Washington. US President Joe Biden is being pressured by some of his own Democratic allies to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. According to The New York Times, sources claimed that Biden is ‘irritated’ by party leaders, especially former President Barack Obama. All of them were reportedly involved in the discussion that was being held regarding the withdrawal of 81-year-old Biden’s name as the Democratic candidate.
Since the first presidential debate, several lawmakers have come forward urging President Biden to end his campaign. However, Biden’s closest supporters, including Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have refrained from openly criticizing the president, whose campaign has always said he will stay in the race for the White House.
However, according to a report in the New York Times, Joe Biden views Barack Obama as “a puppet master behind the scenes” when it comes to presidential campaign negotiations. Sources close to Biden, speaking anonymously, said the president “has been in politics long enough to believe that the reports that have appeared in the media in recent days are being circulated to increase pressure on him to step down.”
In fact, former US President Barack Obama has privately expressed concern to Democratic Party leaders about President Joe Biden’s candidacy. At the same time, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has privately warned Biden (81) that if he does not withdraw from the candidacy race, the Democratic Party may lose its ability to gain control of the House. According to sources familiar with the matter, Pelosi has also told Biden that he may not be able to defeat Republican Party candidate Donald Trump.
