Discussion intensifies whether Sheikh Hasina is still the PM of Bangladesh or not After this statement of the President, now the discussion has intensified in Bangladesh whether Sheikh Hasina is still the Prime Minister of Bangladesh constitutionally. Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh on 5 August. She ran away to India. A few days later, her son Wajid Joy had claimed that Sheikh Hasina is still the real Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
According to Section 57 (A) of the Constitution of Bangladesh, if the Prime Minister resigns at any time by tendering his resignation to the President, then the post of PM in the country will become vacant. Now there is a problem in Bangladesh regarding this. The President is saying that he does not have Sheikh Hasina’s resignation letter.
Asif Nazrul, who is holding the post of Law Minister in Bangladesh, condemned the President’s statement. He said that the President is clearly lying. If he sticks to his stand then the government should consider keeping him in office.
Apoorva Jahangir, deputy secretary of Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh, said that he agreed with Asif Nazrul’s statement. However, he said that the government has not yet taken any step to remove President Shahabuddin.
