Attempts to woo India by luring it with a big arms deal, Ukraine sees a ray of hope in PM Modi

Kyiv. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine has given Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky a ray of hope to stop the war. Along with this, Ukraine has also tried to woo India through big defense deals. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country is ready to connect directly with India by purchasing Made-in-India products and allowing Indian companies to open in Kiev. He also said that Ukraine is also interested in setting up companies in India. Zelensky held a press conference after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kiev.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit India during their talks. When asked about Prime Minister Modi’s invitation, Zelensky said, “Yes, I plan to visit India.” Emphasizing that Kiev needs New Delhi very much for its diplomatic influence, the Ukrainian President said, “I very much need to find the key to your country because I need your country very much… It is not about your historical choice. But who knows? Maybe your country is the key to this diplomatic influence. So as soon as your government and Prime Minister are ready to meet me, I will be happy to come to India.”

Peace summit should be held in India
Regarding the peace summit, Zelensky said that he proposed to PM Modi that it could potentially be held in India. Zelensky said, ‘As far as the peace summit is concerned, I really believe that there should be a second peace summit. It would be good if it is held in one of the Global South countries… I fully support this and told PM Modi that we can have a global peace summit in India. This is a big country, it is a great democracy – the biggest.’

Only India can stop Putin
Zelensky had earlier said that India is a big country, which can have a big influence in persuading Russia to stop the ongoing war. India will play its role. I think India has started to recognize that this is not just a conflict. This is a real war of an entire country, named Ukraine, against one man Putin. You are a big country. You have a big influence and you can stop Putin and stop his economy, and really put him in his place.
