Shahbaz Sharif hosted a state dinner in honour of Arshad. The entire family of the javelin player attended it.
After Pakistan’s javelin player Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, the Shahbaz government organized a ceremony in his honor. However, according to Pakistan’s hockey players, after they received the invitation to attend the ceremony, the invitation was withdrawn.
Former Pakistani hockey player Rao Salim Nazim said on Saturday that the Pakistan government has insulted the players by withdrawing the invitation. He said, “The PM House had sent mails to many hockey players inviting them to the ceremony.”

“Invitation withdrawn just before the ceremony”
Salim said that just before the ceremony, many players received a message from the PM’s Office. It said that they were facing difficulty in managing the large number of guests. That is why the invitation was being withdrawn.
Salim said that such treatment of the players who have won many Olympic medals for the country is insulting. Pakistan has so far won 4 medals in hockey in the Olympics. Out of these, 3 are gold and 1 bronze medal.
Before Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan had won its last medal in the 1992 Olympics held in Barcelona. Then the hockey team had won the bronze medal. On the other hand, Arshad Nadeem, who returned to Pakistan after winning the gold medal, is being continuously honored.
Arshad won the gold medal with a record throw in the Paris Olympics. Whereas Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal.
Punjab government gave 1 crore Pakistani rupees to Arshad
Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, gifted him 1 crore Pakistani rupees and a new car. Maryam went to Arshad’s village and met him and his family. Maryam Nawaz also handed over the cash prize and the keys of the car to Arshad.
Arshad is the first player in the history of Pakistan to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics. According to a Pakistani media report, Arshad’s father is a labourer. Seeing his talent, the villagers collected funds for Arshad’s training. In the Paris Olympics, Arshad was in direct competition with India’s Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj has won silver.
In this Olympics, Nadeem has created history by throwing the javelin 92.97 meters. Earlier, Norwegian athlete Thorkildsen Andreas had set a record of 90.57 meters in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
