Anmolpreet Singh of Punjab scored a century in just 35 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in Group C of Vijay Hazare One Day Cricket Tournament, which is an Indian record for the fastest century in List A cricket. Thanks to this stormy innings of Anmolpreet, Punjab defeated Arunachal Pradesh by nine wickets. Anmolpreet did not find any buyer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction last month but he broke the record of former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan by openly displaying his aggressive attitude against Arunachal Pradesh.

The record is in the name of Australia’s Jake-Fraser McGurk, who scored a century on just 29 balls for South Australia against Tasmania in 2023-24. After him comes South Africa’s AB de Villiers, who scored a century on 31 balls against West Indies in Johannesburg in 2014-15.
Right-handed batsman Anmolpreet scored unbeaten 115 runs in 45 balls which included 12 fours and nine sixes. With the help of his innings, Punjab achieved the target of 165 runs in just 12.5 overs. Punjab scored 167 runs for one wicket. After the early dismissal of captain Abhishek Sharma (10), Anmolpreet made an unbroken partnership of 153 runs for the second wicket with Prabhsimran Singh (35 not out) to give the team an easy victory. Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh team was out for 164 runs. For Punjab, fast bowler Ashwani Kumar and leg spinner Mayank Markande took three wickets each.
