New Delhi: The new US President Donald Trump is in discussion after taking oath. He has taken many such decisions which are being discussed continuously. The Trump administration now wants a big defense deal from India. It is reported that the Trump administration is urging India to make a significant increase in the purchase of American military technology. Its cost has exceeded $ 25 billion since 2007. The ongoing conversation includes co-production deal and joint manufacturing of fighter vehicles for fighter jet engines. It has emphasized strategic and technical cooperation. But the question is, what is the desire of India. Apart from this, India is expressing confidence in Make in India. Even if there is a defense deal with America, India will try to do it on its own terms.
According to the toi report, the Trump administration is ready to motivate India to further increase military procurement from the US from fighter jets and armored fighter vehicles to aero-engine and missiles. President Trump’s transaction approach clearly appeared in his phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Where he called upon India to increase the purchase of American -origin arms systems and platforms.

What is the desire of India?
An official said, “India will have to talk carefully with the new Trump administration. American military technology is definitely the top level. But it will have to keep pace with our policy of ‘Make in India’ with foreign cooperation at reasonable cost. India wants co-development and co-production instead of direct purchase. ”
Trump’s move has barely come four months after India has signed a $ 3.3 billion mega contract for 31 armed MQ-9B ‘Preedters’ remote with the US government. Also, another contract of $ 520 million has been signed to establish MRO facility here with drone manufacturer General Atomics.
But this was during the last days of Biden administration. Trump wants his share in case of big deals besides strategic convergence on many fronts. Of course, Tejas Mark-II for fighter aircraft with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in India is undergoing technical-business talks that started last month for the co-production of US General Electric F414-INS6 Aeroanjan. The deal includes the transfer of 80% technology of the total value engine parts, which will cost around $ 1.5 billion.
